Lone Star Democratic Club invites you to our next meeting:

May 1st at 6:00 p.m.

South County Library, 2101 Lake Robbins Dr., The Woodlands

This will be our last meeting at the library this year. We are back to the Community center for the rest of the year.

6 to 7 pm Brown Bag Social time; your chance to visit with other Democrats.

7 to 9 pm Clean Elections

Rescheduled from the March meeting which had to be canceled due to weather.

Charlie Mauch and Kris Graham from Clean Elections Houston group will present a program on publicly funded elections.

Imagine a Texas Capitol in which your opinions counted as much as those of professional lobbyists and the mega-wealthy. Imagine a judicial system in which candidates for judge didn’t have to raise money from the very attorneys and interests who one day will show up in their courtrooms.

These aren’t just dreams of true democracy; they’re reality in a number of states that have passed Clean Elections legislation establishing opt-in public financing of campaigns. Clean Elections Texas, a campaign led by the True Courage Action Network (TCAN) and many collaborating groups, is taking the initiative to bring Clean Elections to the Lone Star State.

More information about TCAN can be found at: http://www.truecourageaction.net/

Also, we will be collecting donations for wounded soldiers stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Click here to see the request list from Operation Military Embrace.
